Rajah Murg Asil

What does Rajah Murgh Asil means ? The meaning of this expression is literally translated as "purebred royal fowl". The name "Asil" refers to breeding with a long pedigree.  They weight of these birds in proper condition should not exceed 3 Kilograms (7 Lbs). As the name of this breed is of Persian-Arabic origin it is assumed that these birds became very popular during the era of Muslim rule in India  onwards the 7th century a.c. The breed got a reputation for its very game character and endurance. It was matched with spurs shortened and wrapped with cotton cloth kwon as "Dora Dirza" and fought in a multiple round three day contest.
